What beautiful weather in Wellington we enjoyed over the King's Birthday long weekend. Hopefully, everyone enjoyed the break with whānau and friends and our tamariki are feeling ready to 'tackle' the last half of a busy and action packed Term 2.
SHOW QUEST ShowQuest was held at the St James Theatre two Thursdays ago, and what a wonderful celebration of talent for those lucky enough to be in the audience. This was an amazing experience for our EHS tamariki who presented an item of dance, drama and music to showcase the Zones of Regulation. They were all stars and made us feel so proud as they performed on the stage! Our ShowQuest team came 3rd equal in their division, but more importantly, they won the award for Best Team Spirit. This is a true reflection of the kindness, support, and encouragement they showed one another throughout the whole ShowQuest journey.
A huge thank you to Hannah Ward and Brianna Pratt for their dedication and the long hours they spent preparing the group for their performance. It is incredible to have such passionate, committed teachers who champion opportunities for students to experience the magic of the arts!
Here's what one of our performers, Bethany, had to say: "It was really fun and I enjoyed the whole experience of performing at the Saint James. I was really excited because I got to sing a solo song which made me feel special."
PARENT PORTAL We wanted to let you know about the new Parent Portal - a great new resource available to all whānau across Aotearoa.
The portal is a simple, easy-to-use online tool that gives parents clear, practical information for every year level in English and Maths, along with many more useful resources. It’s there to help you understand what your child is learning and how you can support them at home. Everything is explained in a parent-friendly way, with videos, short write-ups, fun activities, and handy resources.
The Parent Portal also offers some great insights into how the NZ education system works and what to expect from your child’s school. You can access the Parent Portal Here - it’s definitely worth a look!
WHĀNAU HUI - PARENT TEACHER MEETINGS We are also looking forward to our upcoming Whānau Hui in the last two weeks of this term. This is a valuable opportunity for you to connect with your child’s kaiako (teacher), celebrate their progress, and work together to support their learning journey. Strengthening these partnerships between home and school makes a real difference. An email will be sent out tomorrow with information on how to make a booking.
WHĀNAU RŌPŪ
It was great to have so many whānau at the Whānau Rōpū last Thursday evening - thank you for the valuable kōrero.
Wishing everyone a happy, dry week!

Digi Kids in Action - A Hands-On Tech Afternoon at EHS
Last Friday afternoon, our amazing Digi Kids took the lead in showcasing the digital equipment and activities we use here at EHS. They confidently shared a range of hands-on experiences with our Learning Community Hub whānau, giving everyone a glimpse into what digital learning looks like in our classrooms. There were Spheros rolling across the floor, music made with play dough using Makey Makey, Bee-Bots navigating mapping courses, and Spike Robots showing off their dance moves. The displays were interactive, creative, and a great way for our Digi Kids to share their learning.
A big thank you to Keryn Akers for organising the event and supporting the Digi Kids. It was a fantastic opportunity for our Learning Community to see the exciting things happening in digital learning at EHS.

Sports
While Eastern Hutt sport develops good players, we also believe in encouraging good people. Showing that it is the journey and never the destination, is important learning for our tamariki .
Team EHS is special, it is always a pleasure to watch countless memories unfold and friendships strengthen through the magic of sport. The support shown for each another within our sports teams is second to none. The energy on the sideline is unmatched, and one we should all be very proud of.
Let’s get ready for a Term of sporting success and self-discovery.

Cross Country – South West Zone - On Tuesday 27th May, 45 keen Year 4-6 students competed in the South Western Zone Cross Country. This was held at Sladden Park, Petone. The course proved challenging. Our students demonstrated an abundance of Eastern Hutt values, such as perseverance, resilience and support. The chant of EHS echoed across the field. That is what sport at a primary level is all about.
Here is the placing of the first 25 students. The first 20 will represent the South Western Zone in the Inter Zone on Tuesday 10th June at Trentham Memorial Park.
