Kia ora, Hello, Talofa Lava, Malo e lelei, Ni hao, Ahn nyung, Wei ho ma, Namaste, Hola, Kee haal hai, Vannakkam, Jomreep sua, Sawat dee, Privet, Kumusta, Nabad!
We're right in the middle of show fever here at EHS, and the excitement is growing everyday!
We're all working hard to get our school show 'Olympics Through Time' ready for the stage. With props coming together, costumes being prepped, and dance items coming along nicely, it's shaping up to be a really exciting performance. It's been a while since our tamariki last performed in front of an audience. Back in 2021, they had to perform without one due to Covid restrictions, so for many of our tamariki, this will be their first real taste of performing live!
It's been awesome hearing the show tunes drifting in from the hall to the office area, and it's been fantastic watching each class's item go from just an idea to what it is now. We're pretty sure that when the lights go down and the kids hit the stage, you're going to be wowed!
A1 and A2 hard at work polishing their performance!
To make sure you're all set, please keep an eye on Seesaw and any updates from the office for all the details, such as what your child needs to bring, the time they need to be at school for their evening performance, and pick-up and drop-off arrangements. If there are any language barriers with any of the comms, please let your classroom teacher know and we will do our best to help you out.
A massive thank you to Hannah Ward, Pearl Moon, and our amazing Arts Team for the endless hours they're putting in to make this show happen. And a big shout out to our teachers too for managing the extra workload. Performance opportunities like this are a fantastic learning experience for our kids and a wonderful way to bring our whole school community together.
We can't wait to see you there, and we know the kids are super excited to show you all the hard work they've put in!
Tickets are now on sale, so please remember to fill in your order forms, include your cash payment, and return them to your classroom teacher. The tickets will be delivered on the same day so keep an eye on your child's school bag. Any remaining tickets will go on general sale at the beginning of next week.
On another note, we were really lucky to have Constable Tanya Leef, our local Police School Community Officer, pop in to talk with the tamariki about personal safety. She covered some really important parts of the NZ Police Keeping Ourselves Safe programme, which helps kids learn how to handle tricky situations, like staying safe and knowing what to do if they're ever in danger. It was great to have these one-off sessions with Constable Tanya, and we're looking forward to rolling out the full programme (along with a parent information evening) in 2025.
Constable Tanya, teaching our EHS Juniors how to be safe!
Lastly, we're excited for Onesie Day coming up this Friday, and we can't wait to see all the tamariki rocking their onesies, oodies, dressing gowns and pyjamas! Our Sports Leaders are organising a 'Onesie Runsie' for our Year 0 -3 tamariki at lunchtime, which should be a lot of fun! If everyone was able to please bring in a gold coin to show their support for Wellington Free Ambulance, it would be much appreciated.
With the end of Term 3 coming up, exciting events ahead, and warmer weather on the way, there's a lot to look forward to. As always, thanks for your support!
Kia pai te wiki koutou - have a great week everyone!

Eastern Hutt School lit up on Friday night with a super fun Neon Disco for the Juniors, Middles, and Seniors. The night was filled with big smiles, laughter, and lots of dancing, with everyone having a blast. A huge thank you to our awesome Home & School team for making it all happen, not only raising money for our school, but also bringing everyone together for fun night!
A couple of Year 2 classes made a cool card thanking the Home and School for putting on such an awesome event. Here are some of the messages they wrote in their special card:

Learning on the Move - Wellington City Trip
On Tuesday, our Bilingual Teacher, Wanwan, took a group of students on a trip into Wellington as part of their language development. The bilingual students helped plan the trip and were very excited to explore Wellington City. They walked to Waterloo Station, took the train, and walked to Te Papa. They also had a go at riding Crocbikes along the foreshore!
Wellington turns on the charm for our Bi-lingual learners trip

The Boy With Wings - Puppet Show
The Junior Team enjoyed watching a Puppet Show last Friday, It was called 'The Boy with Wings’ performed by Birdlife Productions. The tamariki loved the puppets and all the different back drops. It was very clever, with live guitar music, lots of smiles, laughter and oooo's and aahhhh's from the audience. The show captured the children’s attention for the whole 50 minutes! Thanks to whānau for supporting the Arts at EHS. Without your activity-related donations, these wonderful learning experiences would not be possible.
Check out the super writing from tamariki about the show:
On Friday the Juniors watched a puppet show. It was so fun. My favourite part was when ratty saved Jack. He was so cute. I loved it so so much!
By Millie B1
Once upon a time there was a boy called Jack. He went on a boat and went on a big adventure. He went to sleep. His dream was to save the trees. He travelled miles and miles. My favourite part was when Jack found ratty. I got to hold Jack at the end.
By Paige B1
On Friday we watched a puppet show with all the Year 2s. My favourite part was when the trees grew and when he pulled the rock.
By Sid B1
Once upon a time there was a boy. His name was Jack. Jack had a problem, his trees were dying. Jack travelled many miles but he got thrown into jail but he found a rat. The rat helped him escape. When he got home he fixed his trees with water!
By Poppy B1
I liked it when the boy called Jack opened the rock and there was water inside it because it was blue sparkly water. By Sophie (C3)
When there was no water the trees started to die. They didn't have any leaves and all the branches were brown. Jack found the water and put it in the tree roots then they were alive with lots of leaves and apples. By Eva (C3)
