Message from the Principal
Last night our Kapa Haka group performed at the HuttFest held at Walter Nash Stadium. They were amazing and all ‘stars’ on stage. They have persisted with their practices and last night they gave it their all! They performed with energy and big smiles and made everyone feel proud to belong to Eastern Hutt. Thank you goes to our Tutors Matua Piko, Whaea Angelique, and kaiako Anne and Rosa for taking the Kapa Haka and to Chelsey, Ann and Angela for all their support throughout the preparation for this.

This week we farewell Mr James Martin who began his teaching career here and has been teaching in the Senior Team for the last 2 ½ years.
James has not only taught his tamariki in G1 but also been willing to contribute
his musical skills and talent beyond the classroom. This has been in the way of music at Hui, Ukulele Club, ShowQuest in 2023 with Hannah and EHS Got Talent.
James has also often been seen outside on the senior field at lunchtime playing football with the tamariki which they have really enjoyed. We wish James all the very best in his new venture when he will settle in Australia with his partner after some travel to visit his family in the UK.
Next term, we welcome Luke Dentice who will teach in G1 for 4 days per week and Katie Walker will teach one day per week along with some additional release.
We also welcome Chris Pullan who will be teaching our next cohort of New Entrants. They have already enjoyed a visit and are excited about starting next term.
We also welcome Nikita Chhagan who will be teaching in C1 for three days and Megan Skelly will be teaching the other two days while Jacqui is Acting Deputy Principal.
Next term, I will be away on a Primary Principals Sabbatical which is awarded to Principals to engage in some professional learning and reflection as well as taking time for rejuvenation!
I will be visiting some schools in New Zealand and Australia to see practice in providing learning support programmes.
In my absence, both Ann Gwilliam and Hayley Walshe will be Acting Co-Principals and Jacqui Graham will step up to be Acting Deputy Principal. Eastern Hutt will be in good hands!

Thank you to all of you all who have given time over this term to help the school in so many ways. It is always much appreciated!
We hope you can all enjoy some extra time with your children over the holidays and stay well. We look forward to seeing fresh smiling faces to begin Term 3!
